Pompeii

Today was such an awesome day! I met some really awesome people from la. I met them on the way to Pompeii and we had so much in common. The daughter is starting her residency at a hospital soon and her and her mom were taking a 20 day cruise. They reminded me a lot of my mom and I. She had gone backpacking through Europe for a few months do she gave me a lot of good advice! We spent like 5 hrs out at Pompeii looking at everything. I did some project on it in 4 or 5th grade and have been really intrigued by Pompeii ever since. She had a book that had a self guided walking tour so we did that. We saw were people lived, a bakery and a brothel. The brothel was a whole lot smaller than I expected it to be. It looked like the beds and pillows were made entirely of stone. I hope they used to put pillows or cushions down!! It was amazing to see how smart these people were with how they built everything and how they kept up the water pressure! The also had two of the bodies they found in plastic cases. It was really sad because you could see the agony they were in knowing they were about to die. The way one of the persons hands were it looked like maybe they were holding something over them to save them? Im not sure but it was just really sad.

We came back to town and ate some pizza before they had to get back on their ship. They even bought my pizza! They were so incredibly nice and they told me if I ever wanted to visit I could stay with them!! It really felt like I had known them forever by the end of the day. So much fun with new friends!

I like this hostel, it has free Internet! I've been trying to get all of my pics uploaded and I think there are 200 more to go! I feel pretty lame, I am in Italy and have spent the last two hours in my hostel trying to get these to load! They do have a bar up here which is also really nice. Oh if you are ever over here don't expect the milk or oj to be how it is back in America. I had some cereal for breakfast but it tasted so weird I had to stick with toast haha.
