Pisa and lucca 6/12
So today on Tuesday I went to Pisa to see the leaning tower! I met a lady on the train from Venezuela. We figure out we were both going to the tower so we thought we'd go together. It was like playing charades all day. She didn't speak and English and all I could remember was like the word for dog or something. It turned out to be pretty fun even tho my "I'm holding up the tower pic is def not quite right. We went into the cathedral that is there which was pretty and then we had to wait 1.5 hrs to walk up the steps of the tower. It was really cool going up you could definitely feel which side of the lean you were on. Looking down from the top everyone looked like ants! There was this really cool statue in one of the grassy areas. I think it's supposed to be Romulus and remus. After we were done at the tower we went back to the train station. She is also staying in Florence but I heard lucca was a good place to go! ;) so I hopped on another train and it took like 30 min to get there. The Tuscany countryside is gorgeous with all of the mountains and the little houses all tucked away in the trees. so lucca has a wall surrounding their city and the cool thing is is that you can run or bike or whatever up there. So I found a place that rents out bikes and went around the whole city! They have like big park areas you can get to and lots of swings and playgrounds! Of course I had to stop and swing! When I got most of the way back around, I found this restaurant like right on the wall. It was the best ravioli I have ever had in my whole life! That was also the best meal i think I've had do far. Especially considering my dinner was a European version of a lunch able! I passed out on the train ride back. Idk what it is but I get on a train and I'm just done for. Oh the really cool thing about my hostel: it's like a minute walk to the beautiful duomo here and I got to wake up to the bells ringing this am!!! So cool. Tomorrow I am waking up butt crack of dawn early. I want to be first in line to see the david sculpture! Then I might go to the duomo but I have a tour booked for the afternoon! It's s wine tasting in chianti which will be amazing! I wanted to do a bike tour of it but couldn't find one or didn't look hard enough. I got my next hostel booked but Thursday is going to be awful. I want to take a train to Venice so I can see murano and then I'm heading to Milan! But it's a2 hr train to Venice and 3 to Milan with my giant backpack! Oh well guess I'll have tough shoulders.
