Cologne 7/29-31

I think like 30 cops in full swat gear just came strolling down to my platform. Creepy!!

I've felt awful for the past few days with an annoying cough and stuff and finally went to the dr. Hooray it's bronchitis. Yuck. But at least I know whats wrong and got some drugs. It blew my mind bc I don't have insurance over here and the dr was about 40euro and the two prescriptions were 20. That's like how much we pay for a regular visit. I just couldn't believe how cheap it was, I was dreading going bc I just figured it would be so expensive.

I had tried to get Colette to tell me her hostel but she told me after I had already booked one but they ended up being a couple of u stops away. She told me she had met this guy in her room and she thought he might be creepy so she invited him to go to dinner with us. He was nice but a little strange. Apparently he had asked if he could smell her hair!!! So gross/weird. The next night we had decided we were going to go out and find a club or something. On a Monday night. So that went really well. The most amazing thing tho! She said there was a new guy in her room and she invited him out with us. I was down at the bar in her hostel waiting for her and I turn around and see this guy who is incredibly familiar looking. We both went to ecu and his fraternity and my sorority were super close for a few years. I don't know if we ever actually knew each other but we had definitely seen each other at parties and stuff. What a small world!! So we all went out and found random bars that were pretty dead since it was a Monday but it was a good night.

Monday during the day Colette and I had tried to go to the chocolate museum but it was closed so I went on Tuesday by myself. It was actually really cool and they gave you a piece of chocolate when you bought your ticket. They showed the origins of the cocoa tree and the seeds which are huge. They had this room with all of the machines that are used to make it into chocolate and a big chocolate fountain that they dipped a wafer in and you got to eat that. You could see the chocolate going into a mold and it drying and being knocked out of the mold and bring wrapped. I think it's such a cool museum.

I went back to the hostel to try and take a nap but there was a Russian guy in my room who kept trying to talk to me. He didn't speak English so I got on google translate and we had an interesting conversation that way. He was 42 and in the orchestra in Moscow. He showed me pictures of his family. I admit I was happy when he left bc it was quiet and I took a quick map before going to meet Colette. We went to a jazz bar which was super cool. It was really small but you could tell the people there were regulars bc the ones sitting at the bar and the bartender were playing some dice game.
